President's Message - August
I’m not exactly sure how to begin this message because by now most members will have heard of my letter of retirement to the Chamber’s Board of Directors. I have attached that letter below addressed to all members. I plan to retire from the position as President/CEO of the Chamber on December 31, 2010. As I indicated in the letter, I have real mixed emotions about this decision. It’s hard to express how you truly feel about an organization such as the Chamber but it gives me a sad feeling to think that I will not be in daily contact with some of the most professional and hard working people that I have ever worked with and for in my lifetime. With that said I will still be in the area and will be doing business with Chamber members always so from that stand point I will see many of you from time to time.
June 17, 2010
To All Chamber Members and Members of the Board of Directors:
I am notifying you that it is my intention to retire from my position as President/CEO of the Harford County Chamber of Commerce by December 31, 2010. It is with a great deal of mixed emotions that I submit this letter to you. I have not only enjoyed my position over the past ten years but have grown both professionally and personally from my associations with current and past members of the Board of Directors.
Since July 2000 I have had the privilege to give leadership to an outstanding organization and a group of individuals who have had a strong interest in the success of this organization. Without this help and confidence, I would not have been able to meet the high standards established for the Chamber. Your trust in me has given me pause to reflect on what we have accomplished as a business organization and I truly can’t express my gratitude to you. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to enjoy a rewarding second career. I appreciate your help and look forward to a continued relationship with you in the future.
Sincerely,
William B. Seccurro
President/CEO
So for now, I look forward to working with you for the next five months and hope that you will give your strong support to the Chamber, the next President/CEO and me in the future. I hope that you will find the rest of the summer prosperous and that you will have an opportunity to have some time to rest and relax with family and friends.
