President's Message - September
“It has been HOT”, might be the biggest understatement about this summer so far. A hot and dry June followed by an even hotter July. Let’s hope it cools down some and that normal amounts of rain fall begin soon. It is always an indication that summer is coming to an end when I begin to write articles for the September Voice. I haven’t been on vacation yet so I still have that part of summer to look forward to in the coming weeks. I hope that by the time you read this message you will have had some time for R&R with family and friends. The end of summer is always a downer but I do begin to focus on the coming year and plan for appropriate events and activities. You will always find activities and events posted on the Chamber’s web site at www.harfordchamber.org. Plan now to use your membership and attend as many Chamber functions as possible. The atmosphere is always friendly. You will find that members are always anxious to meet and greet you and to learn more about you and your business. If at any time you have questions about an event, contact the Chamber and everyone here will gladly help you.
Readers will find an article elsewhere in this publication about the Annual Harford Award Dinner and Program to be held on September 22nd. Mark your calendars now and plan to attend. Chamber members should have received their invitation by the time you read this message. The Harford Award Program has grown to become the most popular early fall event held in Harford County and for the past six or seven years has attracted a sold out crowd of nearly four hundred members and guests. I guarantee that you will not be disappointed in the dinner and the program which will again recognize five Harford County businesses/organizations that contribute to the quality of life we have come to appreciate.
Members will find a complete listing of the Chamber’s Standing Committees in this issue of the “Voice”. I urge you to look over the listing which includes a brief description of the committee, the day of the month and time it meets, and the name of the Chair and Co Chair. Please consider becoming an active member of the Chamber by joining a committee and sharing your time, talent, and treasure with the Chamber. You will find the work interesting and rewarding and will give you another way to network with hard working business men and women. You can always contact the Chamber if you need more information about the Chamber’s volunteer and committee program.
Enjoy the rest of your summer and plan to make this year the year that you really use the benefits of your Harford County Chamber of Commerce membership. It is your best business investment especially during these difficult economic times.
