President's Message
July 2008
By the time you read this message, summer should be underway and
many of you will be planning your vacations. As I write this
message, gasoline is around $3.60 per gallon. So I’m not sure how
far you will be going but I know many members are rethinking where
they may be going. Staying local has some advantages but on the
whole, I see it as a draw back to people coming to Harford County to
enjoy our area for their vacations. Well either way, I hope you have
some time to travel and do enjoy yourself. Before summer starts for
me, I have some unfinished business to complete from this spring.
The Thirty First Annual Military Appreciation Luncheon was a
resounding success and once again the Chamber was able to recognize
the men and men of the Armed Forces who serve at Aberdeen Proving
Ground. Elsewhere in this publication you will find pictures from
the luncheon. These photographs kind of say it all. Over the years,
a number of Chamber members have given freely of their time, talent,
and treasure to make Military Appreciation Week and the Military
Appreciation Luncheon are sounding success. This year was no
exception and many folks stepped up to the plate including Homestead
Publishing Company which has annually produced the Military
Appreciation Week Insert which appeared in the “Aegis”, “APG News”,
and “The Record”. It’s hard to top one year to the next but once
again, I found the content of this publication to be professionally
done and gave the Harford County community an incite into why APG is
so important to the economy and the quality of life in this region.
Over and over again, it amasses me that things just get better and
better, especially when you are giving thanks to individuals such as
our colleagues at APG. I hope that you enjoy the pictures as much as
I did.
I hope you do get some time to vacation this summer and that it is
not predicated on what the cost of gasoline is at the time you
choose to take your break. If it is close to home or wherever, enjoy
your time with family and friends.
Always feel free to contact the Chamber or me
at 410-838-2020 or e-mail ceo@harfordchamber.org.
Sincerely,
Bill Seccurro
